[00:00:00] Speaker A: Hello, my friends, and welcome back to Movie Deputy Reviews. We are here talking about a Netflix movie today. Now you may be thinking Netflix and if you, if you have Netflix, great. If you canceled your Netflix subscription, I do understand why. But I still try to review some of the Netflix movies as well because there are some surprises and I'm gonna have another one for you in the upcoming weeks that will also probably take you by surprise. But today we are talking about in your dreams. It is a new cartoon movie. If you have been seeing commercials about Baloney Tony or the Baloney Tony movie. Baloney Tony is the little giraffe here on the poster that you see. Now, if you are listening to our podcast and you don't see the poster I'm referring to, you can come on over to our YouTube channel and you can check it out over here. Because we have, of course we're going to show you the poster and then I'm going to show you the podcast version of the poster as well, which I'm sure you can kind of see on the podcast, but you'll be able to see it a little bit better over here. Now with this story, it is a little, a little strange, but sometimes that can be a good thing. It really can. This one starts out in just kind of a weird way. It's, it's some kids that are some children of musicians. And the dad just has kind of hit a stumbling block type thing in his creativity level on that. Sorry, I'm just referring to my notes here a little bit so I can get the kids names. It was Stevie and Elliot. So the girl is Stevie and the little boy is Elliot. And of course, like I said, the giraffe is Baloney Tony. And who is the ominous figure standing behind them? That is the sandman. So we'll get into that a little bit more too. But they are the children of some musicians and the dad's kind of hit a bit of a writing block type thing, creativity block. And so the mom decides that it's time to maybe find a more stable profession of sorts. Sorry, this is just bugging me whether that's looking on the screen there. And so the mom goes to check this off and then the kids are realizing that, wait a minute, if mom is going off to find a job and dad's here, what's that going to do to us? And that's where the big part of the story comes in, is they end up going to a store of sorts. I won't reveal too much on that. But they go into the store and they find this book on dreams. And through this book, they are transformed into this magical realm. And it's a matter of not going to give too much away yet. I want to show you. I'm going to pause right there for a moment and I'm going to actually show you the podcast image. And no, I'm actually not going all over the place. This will actually make sense. You'll probably see. I didn't change it a whole lot. I kind of changed where the words were at and just kind of just squared it off a little bit. But that's what I did. For that, I'm actually going to just probably leave it on that. But let's share with you the trailer for this and then I'll get into a little bit more of the review. And don't worry, no spoilers ever here on Movie Deputy. So you don't ever have to worry about spoilers anywhere with this program. [00:03:01] Speaker B: I can see your crack. [00:03:03] Speaker A: That was my bad. I should have brought it back to the beginning. [00:03:06] Speaker B: Hey, wanna see a magic trick? Why do you have to be so annoying? Open the notes, Stevie. Stevie will say, why do you have to be so. Okay, we're done here. Ta da. Hey, guys. [00:03:19] Speaker A: Something came up and I'm headed out. [00:03:22] Speaker B: Of town super early. You're leaving, dad, it's not like mom's gonn right? [00:03:27] Speaker A: I just don't want you to worry, honey. [00:03:29] Speaker B: Hey, Stevie, look what I found. What is that? The legend of the Sandman. It says the Sandman. [00:03:36] Speaker A: This is the book that I'm referring to. And if you're noticing that there's something in the story sounds familiar. Don't worry, I'm gonna touch on that too. [00:03:43] Speaker B: Can make your dreams come true. It's magic. I can see your crack, Houdini. Hey, Stevie, what would your dream be? Hey, dad, there's a dead girl in the cereal. How'd it work? We're in our dreams. Oh, Sandman, where are you? [00:04:13] Speaker C: I know the Sandman. [00:04:17] Speaker A: It can't be Baloney Tony. And I just realized. I apologize. The audio is going to get a lot better here, so. That's my bad. [00:04:27] Speaker B: My long lost favorite stuffed animal. [00:04:30] Speaker C: Baloney Tony, my man. Smell it. [00:04:34] Speaker B: I knew I smelled something rotten. [00:04:36] Speaker C: Nice to see you too, Joanne. [00:04:38] Speaker B: Stevie. [00:04:39] Speaker C: That's what I said. Joanne Stevie Jo Vann. I feel like we're saying the same thing. [00:04:44] Speaker B: What's happening? [00:04:45] Speaker C: That's Nightmara, the giver of nightmares. You have to get through her if you wanna reach the sandman. [00:04:51] Speaker B: Ooh, scary. [00:04:55] Speaker C: That's going to Be expensive. Holy mackerel. Incoming. [00:05:09] Speaker B: Naked Dream. What's so scary about this? [00:05:11] Speaker C: Absolutely nothing. [00:05:12] Speaker A: Sweet. [00:05:14] Speaker B: We have a chance. [00:05:15] Speaker A: The infamous Naked Dream is what they were referencing there to save our family. [00:05:21] Speaker B: If we can find the sandman. [00:05:25] Speaker C: Get behind me, because I'm gonna channel an epic fireball. So you seen good movies lately? [00:05:37] Speaker B: Anybody? [00:05:38] Speaker C: Anybody see any good movies? [00:05:42] Speaker A: A lot of times I find myself asking that question even when I'm watching a movie. Oh, come on. Could we really resist licking a sausage? Come on. And no, I don't mean that as a double entendre. What a weird kid. So this video, this. This movie debuted on Netflix back on the 14th and said not too long ago. So if you have Netflix, this might be one that you might want to check out. But I want you to hang on with me. Like I said, if this movie is feeling familiar, and my reference of kind of going through the book and going into a magical world of sorts, not necessarily in the same way, but then there's similar trials and similar things that they have to go through. This story is very much like a modern day never ending story. Now, if you like the never ending story, there are a lot of things here that will be reminiscent of that. It is not the same story at all, but it is definitely. There's definitely some inspirations that you can gather that were like, oh, I know where they got that idea from, because it's just very blatant with the things that Stewie, Stevie and Elliot have to go through along with Baloney Tony as well. And they run into Nightmara, and of course they run into the Sandman, hence the image of the Sandman on the poster. And they. When they have the chance to make everything right again and live out their dreams, that sometimes may be a little bit too hard to resist, but is it really what they want? And this, that kind of goes into a deeper message here that really is meaningful and is surprisingly not woke. There's a few references to woke things throughout the movie. Surprisingly, there are no sexual references or anything like that in the movie, which was a nice surprise, especially for Netflix. And the. The basic story of it is wholesome. I. You're probably wondering, I haven't mentioned guilty or innocent rating on this. Yet another one, I'm going to say tentatively an innocent rating because I would suggest this movie to like 10 and up, maybe 8 and up if supervised. But for younger audiences, I think this movie would probably end up in your nightmares more so than in your dreams, because just some of the scenes are a little intense, especially with Nightmare and some of the things that are happening with the kids, it's just maybe a little much for the youngest of audiences. So I hope you kind of take that into account. But that's why I kind of paused where I did to share the trailer with you to kind of show you the book and show you the dream realm and as we kind of go through all of that. But the trials and things that they have to go through, like I said, they're very similar to the never ending story and things that we see Bastion and Atreyu and them going through. So it's just the differences here. They're siblings and of course you got baloney Tony with you. The bear reference I think is really funny. As a little side note, when I was a little kid, I had a ton of stuffed animals. I actually still have most of them. And when I was a kid, all of mine were named Fred. So I had. Everybody was Fred. I don't understand why. But yeah, Fred, Fred, Fred, Fred and Fred. And then here you have Bear, Bear Jr. Barely there and Frank. So it's just kind of a cute little reference to some of Elliot's bears that I just kind of thought was cute. And it's one of those things that just kind of stuck with me. It's absolutely nonsensical. But it's it that is. It is what it is. Score wise. You're probably wondering where I'm coming in at. Within your dreams. Well, I think I'm going to actually surprise a few of you with this is I'm actually coming at a 6.25 out of 10 on the Deputy scale. Again, if you're familiar with what the deputy scale is, great. If not, I have it on the about me page on moviedebity.com or I'd like to just kind of give a quick explanation too. Is a six is a good story, memorable with some flaws and a seven is good story, memorable plot with some questionable content. And as this kind of falls right in between there probably closer to a six. That's where I ended up with a 6.25 out of 10 on the Deputy scale. So I hope that helps. I hope that you are checking us out and coming over here to YouTube and checking us out here as well. If nothing else, you get like all of my facial expressions and the humor that kind of goes along with that and all of this, all of the chaos that goes with that. But I absolutely love what I'm doing. I hope you are loving it too. If you are on Rumble, we have been just recently uploading some videos over there to Rumble. I don't know why I am so hard to find over there. I'm still trying to work on why it's not indexing me to that. It shows up in the searchable stuff on that. But I'm going to be sharing it on our social media pages of links to our Rumble account. So if you are on there and you want to come check us out, that's where you can at least find us and get connected to us and you'll get notifications. Or if not, if you are over here on YouTube, you want to like subscribe and share to get the latest and greatest movie deputy content. Now you don't have to share it to get the greatest content. Just make sure that you subscribe so you get notifications when these videos go live. Because it's going to be a lot of fun. We have a lot of adventures coming up in December. We're going to be doing our 12 Days of Christmas again and it's going to be a different type of contest than the one we had last year. But also we're also going to have some amazing, amazing prizes that you're not going to want to miss out on. So I hope everybody gets a chance to come on over and check that out. So as always, I'm having a blast. I hope you are too. And I will be back soon. And don't worry, I didn't forget the first Zootopia. I know I goofed and said on Monday when I was had that video up on Wednesday and I'm like, you know, maybe that's not a goof. Maybe I meant to post that on Monday. So that one will be up on Monday for the original Zootopia movie. And tomorrow we are going to have another new movie that has been in the theaters recently. So I hope you come back soon and I'll be. I'll see you then. Bye bye.
