[00:00:01] Speaker A: Hello, my friends, and welcome back to Movie Deputy Reviews, where we are talking about the movie Soulmate today. Now, there have been a few movies over the years that had this title, but this one is a little bit different. We're going to be getting into that in a minute. I do feel it's important to let my listeners or viewers know that this, even the trailer here is a little racy on this stuff. Basically, Soulmate, before we even get into the story, it's definitely getting a guilty rating because two thirds of the movie is basically softcore. Now, if you know what I'm referring to, that can kind of help set that a little bit. If you're not sure what I'm referring to, Google it. When you don't have kids around, that would probably a good recommendation. As you can tell, I've got my mascot here sitting on my chair with me. Little Bittero. My baby airy. He wanted to come join his mommy. Meow me. He's a sweet boy. His motor is good, he's purring, he's happy. So I take advantage of him whenever he's in the office with me. But getting back to the movie, like I said, I am giving this a guilty rating. Soulmate is basically Megan meets Obsession. Now, if you're not familiar with those movies, Megan was an Android type robot meant to be an actual, like, real little girl, but she was used by the Defense Department. And Obsession is about. Oh, the title kind of gives that away for the most part. Just be careful what you wish for because, yeah, you're going to get a lot more. In this one. You have David, and David works for Ultimo Robotics. Well, Ultimo Robotics is creating these Soulmates and. Gotta get down, buddy. Leave the flag alone. Hey, Kitty distraction. If you want to check this, check out. Some of my kitty cats always come over here to check out our YouTube videos because when they do make an appearance on camera, they're always sitting on the back of my chair here. But back to Ultimo Robotics. They are developing these Soulmates bio robots of sorts. Biohumans or whatever they're supposed to be. But before we get too deep into that, you know me, no spoilers ever. Let's get. Let's check out this trailer together. [00:02:29] Speaker B: Will nothing ever make you happy? [00:02:38] Speaker C: In the box, you got three outfits, sundress, an apron, nightclub, and School girl, Schoolgirl. [00:02:45] Speaker A: And yes, if you think that's going the direction that you think it's going, it is. And I just hit stop instead of pause. So for those first few seconds, we're gonna replay. You'd think I'd have this down pat by now. [00:02:58] Speaker B: Will nothing ever make you happy? Oops. [00:03:07] Speaker C: In the box you got three outfits. Sundress, an apron, nightclub and schoolgirl. [00:03:12] Speaker A: Schoolgirl. I found the Android to limited these expressions. [00:03:18] Speaker B: I'm sorry, David, I cannot perform that action for you. [00:03:22] Speaker A: I want a genuine human experience. And it says right in the trailer that this movie was created by the creators of Megan. So that kind of gives you a little bit. It's a much more of an adult version of Megan. [00:03:44] Speaker B: Hello, David. Hello, David. I love you. Tell me you love me. People are gonna try to get in the way because they don't understand what we have. Nobody will ever know you like I do. [00:04:17] Speaker A: Power save mode. Now, like you're hearing some of these really intense points of music and stuff during the trailer. Are some very violent or suit or like hinting to the thing of larger acts of violence and more intense violence as things are playing out. And more things of sexuality as well now. [00:04:38] Speaker B: All right. [00:04:39] Speaker A: She knows my name. [00:04:41] Speaker B: Her legs aren't even shaved. Her hair is greasy and her skin is dried even. [00:04:46] Speaker A: Excuse me. [00:04:53] Speaker B: Have I been a bad girl? Well, nothing can make you happy. This is all your fault. Not. [00:05:10] Speaker A: Not uranic. [00:05:12] Speaker B: We don't need to be pitted against each other. Don't try that girl garbage. [00:05:25] Speaker A: And that's kind of what I was getting into with that. And for those of us of an older generation, it gives off Fatal Attraction vibes a bit. But yeah, this one, basically, David is a widower. He has lost his wife. And so he is. He has all this loneliness and all of this just pent up emotion built up in him. And he has been using online resources to help with some of that. But then when Ultimo Robotics creates the Soulmates, they give the employees the chance to try basically demo them on a trial basis. So when he brings Sarah home, he thinks it's just going to be demoing a simple robot. But things get a lot more complicated very quickly and kind of goes back to something from like iRobot of like the three rules. Doesn't officia. Doesn't essentially say that in this, but it kind of hints to that. But then he's a programmer, so I'll let you use your imagination on that one and what it's. It says death is just the beginning as the tagline of this movie. And let's just say that that's. That's a very deceiving tagline I can cut after you watch the movie. It kind of makes Sense. But before seeing the movie and you're thinking death is only at the beginning, you can kind of use your imagination to think of a few different directions that that could go in. Quincy just came in here. But with Soulmate, you're going to get a little bit of Megan, you're going to get a little bit of Obsession, you're going to get a little bit of Fatal Attraction and you're going to get a lot of Psycho there. This is gory, it is bloody, it is violent, is unnerving of sorts, but it's nothing that we haven't seen before. It's just a compilation of ideas just being redone in a different format. It's like, copy this from this movie. Paste. Copy this from this movie. [00:07:25] Speaker B: Paste. [00:07:26] Speaker A: Copy this from this movie. It's just a copy paste movie. Now, I'm not saying legitimate copy paste. It's not actually using pieces of these other movies, but watching this, you can definitely sense. It's like, okay, you know where that came from. Oh, that's where that came from. Oh, that was that idea. Can we not have any original ideas anymore? Well, yeah, don't get me started on that one. But yeah, Soulmate, because of the fact that it is just regurgitated material, just done a little bit slightly differently, it was really hard to fully stay in the movie. This movie is very. It's a very easy movie to get distracted in. It's a very easy movie to just kind of get caught up in and as that whole thing plays out. So you're probably wondering score wise where I'm at. Well, this probably won't surprise a lot of you, but I'm coming in at Soulmated up just a 4.5 out of 10 on the Deputy scale. And like I said, of course a guilty rating on that as well. So if you've had a chance to check this one out and if you disagree or if you agree with me, I always love to hear the feedback. Occasionally I get comments, Even on the YouTube videos of people commenting on the reviews. And I had that on a recent movie that I reviewed that somebody commented that they were going to go check it out because of the review. So I hope that this helps. This one is available on digital, so if you want to look that up, make sure to pay attention that the sold 8. The A in Soulmate is actually an 8 when you're. If you do search this one up just to make that a little bit easier to find. So that was not a typo by me in the title. That actually had the title of the movie does appear. But as always, if you are having as much fun with these movies as I am, and these interrogations for their plot and their content as I delve delve del deep into the the psyche of the movie, trying to find out if it's guilty or innocent and finding out what plays a part in all of that. Yes, I'm having way too much fun with this. But ultimately, like and subscribe, make sure to turn on that notification bell so you get the latest and the greatest movie deputy content. And we've got some surprises coming up later this month and through the rest of the year. So if you are having as much fun with this as I am, I can't wait to see you again soon. Bye.
