Episode Transcript
[00:00:00] Hello. You know, here I thought I was doing better with my voice, and as I promised, I am here with another episode. This week has taken its toll on my voice, and I do apologize for squeaking a little bit again. But I, of course, wanted to come back as I promised, as I am trying to muster enough of my voice to get through this episode. I know as the last episode that I put with a slight squeaky voice, I got a lot of very negative feedback for which I've responded somewhat to, but they're not worth the time of day. I'm out here and I'm trying my best and I'm doing what I love to bring movie information to you. Now, the movie that we're going to be talking about today is about a beekeeper. Now, when you think of beekeeper, you think of the ones that manage the hives, collect the honey, do all the kind of good stuff. Well, he does that, but he does a lot more. So if you're not at all familiar with the movie that I'm talking about, it is the new Jason Statham action flick. Now, this one is quite interesting and quite intriguing almost as it's done. His job as a beekeeper is to protect the hive. Now, what we see with him out on the farm is him with his bees as he's harvesting the, I don't remember what they call them, the racks, whatever, that. The bees place the honey and they put them in a spinner and collect the honey and all that. So we're watching him do all that, and we're watching a dear friend of his that actually owns the farm where he's at and how their interaction as it goes into, like, okay, is this what the movie is really about? It's like the trailer looked like more.
[00:01:49] And before I go into too much detail, I will say that the beekeeper got a guilty rating on the deputy scale. But I'm going to make you wait around to find out what score I gave it. Now, does that mean a good thing or a bad thing? You're going to have to wait around and find out, but I promise it's worth the wait. The beekeeper is actually a secret part of the government, of a protection agency. It's like you've got your FBI, you've got your CIA, then you have the beekeepers. They are a confidential source of protection for people, for the government, for the president, kind of for just the whole gamut of things. And this beekeeper has stepped down from his role, and a new beekeeper has stepped up in his place.
[00:02:36] But when a ransomware scam happens, he gets caught up in this whole mess. And so he must go back to doing this job that he's so familiar with doing to not only protect the hive as we see with his bees, but also the hive of american citizens as taking all of american citizens in as bees that are in his hive. And this is a very tech heavy, high action movie where there is gratuitous violence. It's just sometimes just overdone. It's like, oh, come on, there's no way.
[00:03:18] Sometimes action movies, yeah, you're just rooting for the, sorry. You're rooting for the good guy as he's basically kicking their butts. And you're just really behind this whole thing. You're like, yeah, this isn't one of those, I mean, there's, I think maybe one moment in this movie where you're like, yes, but the rest of it, it's just an action movie. And as it's kind of playing out, the current level of beekeepers and the current basically agencies or whatever that are supposed to protect the citizens are trying to stop him because they don't agree with the methods that he's taking. They don't agree with the actions that he's taking.
[00:03:59] And so he ends up befriending somebody along the way who ends up helping him with this. And sometimes the best help that you can be is by turning a blind eye. You may be wondering, how does that play out? But as, of course, no spoilers. I can't really explain what it is that he does or how he does it because that would really spoil a good portion of what's happening here. But I can guarantee as he is bringing down these rings of these ransomware, spyware, malware things that these companies are responsible for and the little twerp responsible for all of it gets his kermuffins just, and not the way you might expect it. And it's a fun watch. It will keep you entertained.
[00:04:49] Will this be somebody's favorite movie? Surely at some point this is going to be somebody's favorite. It is aimed at the whole mission impossible type franchise, at the Fast and the Furious franchises, the same kind of energy that those movies have. This one has just maybe not the story quite as much towards the end. There is something that leads into that. There could be more beekeeper stories such as this. And as that plays out, I guess we're going to kind of have to wait and see. But like I said, it definitely leaves on, it doesn't leave on a cliffhanger, but it leaves on a note where it could definitely go from here during all this. Now I'm yawning with all this, with my voice, with my voice and just everything, and it's just been a long couple of days.
[00:05:51] But ultimately I did give the beekeeper a 5.5 out of ten on the deputy scale. Like I said, there will surely be some people out there that this is their favorite and there will be people out there that this is far from their favorite and everywhere in between. But I think with it being a 5.5 because there are some significant flaws just in the way some things are presented here that are just too much to overlook. Will they get better as the franchise is told, or is this one going to be one of those ones that is just one and done due to the lack of interest?
[00:06:28] I'll be honest, when I went to see this, it was a theater that seats 120 something people and there was one person in there besides myself and it was in a primetime slot. That kind of gives you any idea now, could other theaters be sold out? Absolutely, but I don't know where they'd be or much beyond that. If you're a fan of Jason Statham, you'll enjoy this for sure as he has a lot of screen time for basically any movie that he's done up till now. He has a lot of screen time here, but ultimately I hope this helps. Again, this is a very guilty rating. Not as guilty as one of the last ones I talked about, but the violence level takes this up a notch. And then of course, the score with it being a 5.5 out of ten. Be sure to come back tomorrow as I'm going to be talking about the movies from this weekend. Or movie or movies. I guess we'll how it plays out, but ultimately I will be back and I'll talk to you soon. Bye.
