Episode Transcript
[00:00:01] Hello once again and welcome back to another episode of Movie Deputy Reviews where we interrogate movies for plot and content. I want to warn people ahead of time about tonight's movie or today's movie. Sorry, the sun has not come up yet. I record these early, so my apologies on that. But this one is going to be triggering. It is going to be very on edge for people. And so I just like to give people a little bit of a heads up on that. This one is going to be dealing with being drugged against your will, things happening to you, and just a lot of the very violent, Very violent and very gory.
[00:00:47] And the movie we're actually talking about tonight is Blink Twice. You may have kind of seen it on a bunch of posters, whatever. It shows Channing Tatum with a Polaroid camera with a young lady in the picture. So that might help a little bit on that. But we're gonna kind of get into the movie a little bit here too. This one, like I said, I just wanted to kind of give you a little bit of a heads up that the content that we're going to be talking about for this movie is. I'm not going to cross that line where it's not going to be safe content for. For little ears or anything like that. But this, the movie itself is. I'm giving a very guilty rating to just because it is completely inappropriate. I understood kind of where they were going because of the story, but at the same time it pushes the envelope maybe a little bit too far. And that's at least important to try to touch on for something like this.
[00:01:40] Now with Blink Twice, we get to see a couple of these young waitresses and they are working this big like diner event type thing and they're going around and they're basically wishing that they had that lifestyle. And so when one of them gets invited to a party and then can bring her friend with her, they're like, oh, this is awesome because it's going to be off on a private island for the weekend and they're just going to basically live their dream, only their dream is going to be a nightmare. And don't worry, no spoilers. No spoilers. But they end up finding that they're finding that things are coming up missing and different things of personal nature and even those of people, like people even become missing. I was trying to debate if I could say that without really being a spoiler. Yeah, I can mention that without it being a spoiler.
[00:02:33] So. But yeah, both things and people start to come up missing and then just things are not adding up. They're not. There's. There's memory loss stuff going on. Kind of like a GHB type situation, only way worse. And then they're realized. Then one of them kind of starts to realize what's going on and what. And where it's coming from. And there's even some violence, including animals, if you are sensitive to that. I want to warn people that this is. There's something that's quite graphic that happens with some animals here that is just.
[00:03:06] It's not for those with weak stomachs at all.
[00:03:11] But so. And that kind of has to do with kind of what's happening kind of behind the scenes. But then when this one person starts to figure out what's going on, she manages to try to help others kind of come to grips with what they've been experiencing as well.
[00:03:30] And it's just the whole power struggle balance between the captors and the captives of sorts.
[00:03:41] And it's just, it's. It appears to be this perfect island paradise that would be this absolute vacation destination extraordinaire. And in reality, it's their worst nightmare.
[00:03:57] It's like I said, it's. It's not for the faint at heart, it's not for the weak stomachs. There's just so much that is happening as quickly as it is and there's a few twists that you would not expect that happen along the way. Like I said, I'm giving this a very guilty rating. I mean, it's just guilty. But yeah, this is definitely not suitable for any younger audiences at all.
[00:04:23] But score wise, even with all of that, it's like this just. It falls short on so many levels. It's like there's parts of, there's pieces that are almost entertaining to watch. Not obviously not the horrid parts of this movie, but there are pieces of it. And then the twist, almost, almost, almost, almost is almost redeeming at least to just the ending. Not just, not it's just not quite there. So unfortunately, I don't think this is the last that we've seen of this. But score wise, I'm Only at a 4 out of 10 on the Deputy scale. This is one of those ones that besides the gore, just the ugh of it, there, it's. There's not much to remember for the basic story of it. I mean, like I said, there's more to it. But for the average viewer, for the average participant that's going to be engaging and watching this, this is going to be one of those ones that you're just gonna be like okay.
[00:05:27] Or at least the vast majority of the audiences are going to be like okay. And I've. And I welcome. And I was actually had a little bit of a discussion group just of a local thing based on this movie. And I asked everybody to watch it ahead of time.
[00:05:41] And it was just interesting to see the feedback of most of college age kids on up through people in their 40s. And out of 25 people, two of them were. It's like, oh, it was a good movie. And everybody else just basically was looking. I'm like, did we watch the same movie? It's like that was like nobody liked it and like, except these two people. They said there was parts of it to enjoy, but it was just, it was too easy to pick it apart. It was too easy to just honestly kind of figure out what was going on. It was very predictable. Like I said, except for the twist at the end, I did not see that coming. I don't think anybody saw that coming. But it's just. I don't know if it's going to be enough to redeem it or it's going to be enough that we end up with more of these. I'm just kind of hoping not.
[00:06:33] But overall, I hope this helps at least somebody. So if you are somebody that enjoyed this, I would love to hear feedback on why and if this has helped you at all, I'd love to hear feedback on that too. So as always, you know which buttons to click to get the latest and greatest movie deputy content. And as always, I will be back soon. Bye.
