[00:00:00] Hello and welcome back. As we are delving into a really deep interrogation into another new release from this last weekend, this one was definitely not the movie I was expecting it to be. If you're not sure where you're at, you are listening to the one, the only movie deputy reviews, where we bring movies to you in a straight talk away because I dare to interrogate them for their plot and their content.
[00:00:32] So my rating system and how I look at movies maybe a little bit different than most people's, but I want to be a critic for the everyday person. I don't want to focus on all of the Hollywood gobbledygook. I want to focus on what the story is and who the story is for.
[00:00:52] So you may be wondering what movie I'm talking about today. I am talking about fall guy. Now, the new, the old, technically the fall guy, but everybody just knows it as fall guy. And so this fall guy movie is okay, this one gets a little bit complicated because it kind of rides that fine line between guilty and innocent. And that one, it just, it doesn't really have anything over the top in it for guilty, but it does not really quite completely safe enough for innocent. So what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to label this movie innocent, but I'm going to put a precursor or whatever you call that on that. I don't think that this movie would be good for anyone under the age of ten. And typically for innocent, I say twelve and under. So for fall guy, I'm going to say ten and over. It's a lot of action. There's a lot of comedy. It's just, it's, it's a fun watch. It really is. This is going to be a great date movie. This is going to be, by far people's favorite movie of all time. But is it going to be one of mine? No.
[00:02:02] And I'm going to kind of get into that here in a second. I am not going to actually dive into the whole score yet because that on this particular movie, it is very complicated and I will get into that a little bit more. But one of the biggest things that this movie is based on is not what you think it's opens, the whole story opens as basically that this entire movie is a love letter to stunt people. It's an homage to them. And the whole thing is about showing what can happen and what the good and the bad of all of this is. And this really takes it to the extreme on both the good and the bad. Now, you may be thinking why did she over exaggerate how she said that? But that's what I'm getting into. This is just. The movie focuses on the fact that it's about three basic things. Swimming costumes, spicy margaritas, and bad decisions. Now, you may not understand that, and it may be difficult to understand in the whole grand scheme of things, but as soon as you watch this, it makes sense. Now, am I saying you should go to the theater to watch this? That's completely up to you there. Like I said, I'm going to be getting into the score thing a little bit wise is the first third of this movie is incredibly difficult to pay attention to. It's. It's slow and it's just. There were literally people snoring when I went to the theater to see this, the first third of this movie, there just isn't. There's not really any substance or any target audience for it. I mean, there's a few, like, little blips of something. But, I mean, if this was in. If the first third of this movie was in a hospital, it would be completely flatlined. So the first third of this movie, I'm honestly between, like a two and a half and a three. Now I'm getting no, like I said, that's not the score I'm giving it, though, so just bear with me. This is the middle third of the movie. So the center of the movie, it really starts to pick up steam. And it's like, okay, this is getting good. This actually has promise. And so it's like, okay. Then it gets your attention. You start paying attention and you're just caught up in everything that's going on in the action and why and the explosions and all of this stunt stuff. And you understand, like, why things happen the way that they happen. But who are the good guys and bad guys aren't quite so out there yet that you can easily kind of tell who's on whose side. And that all has to play out. But in order for it to play out, there has to be. It's almost like a scavenger hunt of sorts to try to find the answers that they're looking for.
[00:04:55] And so, like I said, it gets going really well in that middle third of the movie, but it's the last third of the movie that really grabs your attention. And it's like, okay, if you have to get up to pee, I mean, you don't want to have to get up to pee. Basically, it's like you don't want to miss a single moment with that. You just. You want to pay attention to every single detail because it all matters. And you've got scenes that are reminiscent of almost like a James Bondish type action, I realize. Bondish. I mean, it doesn't go in that direction. But.
[00:05:30] Sorry, my brain's, like, all over the place this morning.
[00:05:34] And as it's all kind of playing out, it's just so high action, like, okay, this is really getting good. Okay, I should probably touch on the middle part. I was probably low, mid sixes on it. I mean, it made that much of a difference going from, like, the one to the other, like I said. And it builds as the movie gets better as it goes on. It's being hailed, I mean, by some other credits, not by me, as a summer blockbuster and has the potential to do that. It really does. Because there has not been a story like this in a long time. Not since there was an old tv show back when I was younger called the fall guy, Lee Majors. And that was just.
[00:06:13] I could see how maybe they were trying to somehow, like, tie these in together just. Just a little bit. But it keeps building and it keeps building and it keeps building. And finally, the. Like I said, the last third of the movie. I mean, we're talking upper sevens, low eights. I mean, score wise on this, it really gets that much better. So building from where it's, like low end threes, upper and twos, all the way to, like, high sevens, low eights in the same movie. And then you're watching. Okay. I always stick through. All the way through the credits because I don't know if there's a bonus scene or anything to sit there and wait for. And boy, was I pleasantly surprised. I sat here through the whole credits and through everything and through some of the bloopers that are in the credits, which are absolutely worth waiting for. But when the credits were all done rolling and everything is all said and done, there is a bonus scene. And this bonus scene at the very end literally had me clapping, like, full on. I mean, I was, like, type clapping, like, super giddy. I am not going to spoil that for you as to what that was, but that bonus scene by itself makes this entire movie worth watching. So if this is one that you have been, like, weighing on back and forth, it starts out awful. It really starts out slow. It reminds me of another movie that kind of started out really slow and built as it went. And that other movie is a sci-Fi movie, so it doesn't really, really relate to this one at all. But I'm honestly right in the same score range. So what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to be giving fall guy, are you ready for this? I hope you're ready for this. It is getting a 7.25 out of ten on the deputy scale. I've really been debating and, like, looking at all the different things, it's like, okay, a six is a good story and just, just a few flaws. A seven is good story. Memorable. And this one is definitely memorable. The way that it's done and it, the way that it leads off into the end as it's kind of wrapping itself up, it makes you think that this is not going to be the last that we're going to see of this. And I, for one, I'm hoping that this is not the last that we see of these guys. So cross your fingers. And like I said, if you do go see this in the theater, like I said, you don't. If you have to get up to go to the bathroom or do anything, make sure you do it in the first little part of the movie because you're not missing anything. But like, from midpoint onward, you don't want to get up unless it's an absolute emergency. Or if you want to wait till this comes out on instant video, DVD, Blu ray, however you like watching it. This is one that's worth that rental. Is it worth the dollar 20 rental that a lot of the new releases go for on a lot of the streaming platforms?
[00:09:11] Maybe, maybe not. I guess it all kind of depends on you on that. But there is some strong language, and like I said, that's why I'm prefacing. The whole thing of giving you this an innocent rating is there's a lot of strong language in this. So if you're sensitive to that, that's something that you might want to be aware of. But this is a lot of fun, it's entertaining, and it's going to have you on the edge of your seat. So if you like these reviews, you know which buttons to push. And of course, I will be back to talk to you again soon. Bye.
