[00:00:00] Hello and welcome back to another episode of movie DVD reviews where we are going in depth with a full on interrogation of a new movie. Now, the one that I am talking about has not been in the theaters. This was a, it's directly on Amazon. And it just, let's just say that the content warning that I have on here is definitely necessary. I'm not going to say it as for my content because I'm not going to curse. But this movie is definitely not for younger viewers, not for younger ears, not for younger eyes, not for anybody of an innocent constitution whatsoever. If you are sensitive to the f word, if you are sensitive to using the creator's name in vein, if you are sensitive to adult jokes, if you are sensitive to drugs, if you are sensitive to alcohol abuse, if you are sensitive to any of the above that fits in with any of that, then this is not going to be one for you. And you're probably wondering, what movie are you talking about?
[00:01:08] This one, it's got a really weird title. So bear with me on that. The title is actually called Ricky Stanicky. Now, there have been some ads for this online. A lot of people have probably never even heard of this.
[00:01:21] This movie is okay, picture the kids from american pie, all grown up. And that, it's that type of humor. It's nobody that you see from american pie, so you're not gonna get that here. But it's that type of humor. It's just over the top. You have these young kids, like years ago, and they pull a prank. It goes wrong. They need somebody to blame it on. So they make up a name and write it on a piece of clothing that is found by the police.
[00:01:51] The thing that they invent was Ricky Snakey. And so through the years, they have literally created this Bible. This group of friends has, and obviously, this is a guilty rating, if I needed to say that. But these friends have created this literal Bible. It's not like the Bible, but it is their Bible. And basically anything that Ricky needs to, anything that's happened with Ricky, so they can kind of keep all their facts straight, they keep it all down in this, just in their bible that they have put together that basically represents who Ricky is. And he is this humanitarian and he goes and helps all these nonprofits overseas. They've made up this whole big story. He's a cancer survivor. And so they have to end up leaving a big family event or whatever because, quote unquote, Ricky needs them. But it's an excuse that they used could go and do things that they wanted to do and kind of get away from their wives and girlfriends and their lives for a while. Well, they kind of get stuck in a situation where Ricky needs to make an appearance. And so they're like, going, oh, crap, now what do we do? So on one of their adventures, they run into this kind of a creep. He is just this, like, low life comedian who is funny, but not funny. And he just is kind of a leech on all of his friends and just, just kind of, okay, we all know somebody like that. We all know somebody who is just a leech who just, they just, they want to hang around to you and they want everything for free. And they're just, they might be funny, but are they funny enough to really make it worthwhile? Well, they're like, okay, this guy is just over the top enough that they want to hire him to be Ricky Stanicky because they have to prevent Ricky, and they don't prevent present Ricky. And if they don't do so, they're gonna be in some serious do do.
[00:03:51] So they might do this guy's name, he goes by rock hard rod. Now, I will just let you imagine where the jokes can go with that. He, yeah, there's just, he takes a lot of classic songs and makes them beyond adult in his quote unquote performances. And it's just, it's funny, but it's just a little over the top. Like I said, it is funny. It's just not.
[00:04:26] It's just like, wow. But when Ricky finally does make an appearance, I mean, he's got some people fooled, but not everybody. And things get a lot more complicated with one of the guys jobs. And because the boss guy thinks that Ricky is this big, knowledgeable person, all this, he hires him. So whereas these friends thinks they're hiring this con man, comedian, weird dude, for one day, they end up stuck with him, at least for a while. And it's just the kind of chaos as he tries to fit in and tries to just over the top with all of this.
[00:05:07] Again, the adult jokes are just one after the other and the off color language.
[00:05:16] Like I said, there's an entire group of people that this is probably going to be their favorite movie. This is one of those cringe worthy, just cult type films that it's going to have an audience and it's going to have a big audience. But for as many people that are going to love a story like this, it's going to repel at least that many people in the opposite direction. Is it funny? Yes. Is it over the top. Yes. Is it too much?
[00:05:49] Yeah. Okay. Like, you take. No, you're probably going to think, okay, but you gave Deadpool such a good score.
[00:05:56] Deadpool. What? Deadpool is Deadpool. You expect Deadpool to be Deadpool. If you know anything about the character, you know he's intentionally over the top, intentionally that with this one, you did not know what to expect. You knew it was going to be an r rated comedy, but you did not know what to expect. And there's just some of the content here that just carries it a little bit too far. So score wise on Ricky Stanicki, I am going with a 5.75 out of ten. It's. It's a decent story. It's borderline being a good story. But there's, there's quite a few different flaw things with this along the way.
[00:06:35] There are some bloopers in the credits if you do take part and watch this and experience this for yourself.
[00:06:42] And then there is a song that happens at the end of the movie at the very end of the credits. And honestly, I wanted to dock it so much further because of this song.
[00:06:57] They're basically bragging about that they like being woke, and it's all these adult things that they like, but it's. They're basically making it a big deal that being woke and moving forward and being with that whole idea is the way to be. Now, the rest of the movie does not really follow that, but this one song, I mean, I personally was like, okay, maybe mid upper fives when I first heard that score. I'm like, okay, threes. Easily just threes, but I'm like, okay, no, I've got to step back. I've got to take my personal thoughts out of this, which is really freaking hard to do sometimes.
[00:07:40] And I have to follow the deputy scale. I created the deputy scale for a reason, and I have to follow it even when I don't want to. So that's. That's kind of the hard part on that. I love the deputy scale. Don't get me wrong. I'm not going to be changing it, but on movies like this, it's like, okay, I'm at this point here, it's like, okay, maybe a little higher here, maybe a little bit lower here. Kind of comparing it along the way. But that one song at the very end of the credits, like I said, I just wanted to. I wanted to tank the score purely based on that. And if purely based on that, you either want to watch this or don't watch this. That's completely up to you.
[00:08:17] I hope this helps either way. Again, the title is called Ricky Staniki. It is. To say that this movie needs a content warning is an understatement. Again, but I hope that this has helped you. As always, you know which buttons to push if you always want the latest and greatest content.
