Wow, through love and loss, we've been by their side. Is this the end of their story or just a beginning of something more? Let's find out together.

Original Review:

Hiccup has come a long way since we first met him when he began his training. He has had a lot of help along the way, close friends and of course the dragons... especially Toothless. Through his adventures, he's had many victories and many losses (some personal). Now he is the chief in charge of Berk and must make his decisions around what is best for everyone instead of just him. Well, now that someone is coming to take the dragons away, Hiccup makes a decision that many question. He must make sure that everyone is safe (including the dragons). There is a problem though, the person coming after the dragons won't stop so easily so Hiccup must find a safe home for them. He turns to the teachings of Stoick for some wisdom. Something is going to happen before this new plan can play out. This new dragon changes relationships for the humans and the dragons combined. Just when things look like they're going to work out, a decision must be made. Will they all live happily ever after? or is it much more complicated? That's what you'll have to wait to see... Trust me, it's worth the wait to the very end!

[00:00:00] Welcome back to Movie Deputy Reviews, the only place on the Internet where you can find movies interrogated for their plot and their content. As I go deep into these stories and really I pick some of them apart, but I really look at why the stories are being told the way that they're being told and, like, what's the hidden meaning? Are there hidden agendas embedded in? [00:00:27] One thing I've always appreciated about these movies is that they were not woke even before woke was woke. I'm not going to try to say that three times fast. But these ones have always been genuine to what they promised. Just innocent fun that was appropriate for all ages. Okay, can you read enough into these movies and really find something to pick apart? If you're really trying to find it? Yeah. But you can do that with anything. It's like you can pick apart anything if you tr if you look at it hard enough or if you pick at it hard enough. [00:00:59] But these ones are just good family entertainment. And I'm going to surprise you with how to Train your Dragon, the Hidden World, because not only did our score increase from how to Train youn Dragon to how to train youn Dragon 2, we went from a seven to a seven and a quarter. [00:01:16] But how to Train youn Dragon, the Hidden World has gone up another quarter point. Now, I know how incredibly rare that is. [00:01:25] I was really debating also bringing this one in at a 7.25, but just a 7.5 felt a lot more natural for kind of where the story falls and the depth of the characters and the maturity as we see of the characters, both human and dragon. [00:01:42] And as we're just watching it all play out now, as you know, if you've watched these movies, you know that we lost a major character at the end of the last movie. And I'm still not going to spoil that for you by telling you who that is. You're gonna have to watch the movies and find out because that would be a pretty major spoiler. Okay. If you want to know bad enough, you can probably Google it. [00:02:04] But I hope that you would just take the time and watch these movies. [00:02:08] This one I did review on moviedepity.com back in 2019. I was like, come on, we've got to have another movie. And it took five years. [00:02:18] Five years. [00:02:20] And then we never knew we even wanted a live action version. So if you're curious about that one, you're going to have to wait a little bit longer because I'll fill you in on a little bit more at the end of this Review. [00:02:32] Now I want to share with you the original review that I had had on moviedeopity.com hiccup has come a long way since we first met him. When he began his training. [00:02:42] He has had a lot of help along the way. [00:02:45] Close friends and of course the dragons. [00:02:49] Especially Toothless. [00:02:51] Through his adventures he's had many victories and many losses. Some personal. [00:02:58] Now he is the chief in charge of Burke and must make his decisions around what is best for everyone instead of just him. Well, now that. [00:03:10] Well now that someone is coming to take the dragons away, Hiccup makes a decision that many question. [00:03:18] He must make sure that everyone is safe, including the dragons. But there's a problem though. The person coming after the dragons won't stop so easily. So Hiccup must find a safe home for them. [00:03:34] He turns to the teachings of his father, Stoick for some wisdom. [00:03:39] Something is going to happen before this new plan can play out. [00:03:43] There's a new dragon. And this new dragon changes relationships for the humans and dragons combined. [00:03:50] Just when things look like they're going to work out, a decision must be made. [00:03:56] Will they all live happily ever after or is it much more complicated? [00:04:01] That's what you'll have to wait and see. Trust me, it's worth the wait to the very end. [00:04:07] And in saying that there is a post credit book bone or like a mid credit, there's a bonus scene. I don't remember what part of the credits it's in, but there is a bonus scene at the end that you are gonna want to hang around for it. It's worth it. [00:04:20] So back to the story. [00:04:24] The decision that he has to make involves their future in Burke and they have to find a safe place for the dragons. [00:04:34] So does that mean that they're. That the humans and the dragons are moving or just the humans or just the dragons or any combination thereof. You're gonna have to watch the movie and find out. [00:04:45] This one like the other one. [00:04:47] They're like the other ones also take you on an emotional roller coaster. We have seen Hiccup as he falls in love with Astrid and okay, this is not really a spoiler, but I will tell you. They get married in this one. [00:05:01] So they do end up together happily ever after. [00:05:04] The other characters, they end up with some people you might not necessarily expect. But. But the biggest bright star of this is a Bright Fury. Or they call her a Light Fury because Hiccup finds that in this whole search of this that they find a Light Fury. And Toothless is absolutely smitten now, mind you, she has been. [00:05:33] Okay, picture her like another. Like a pet that has just been abused by humans. And so she doesn't trust anyone. And Toothless had only ever been around other dragons, so earning his trust was maybe a little bit easier. [00:05:46] But to gain the Light Fury's trust, that's gonna take something on a whole different level. So you have the story of Toothless and the Light Fury, and that's her name. And this one, she doesn't like, have an official name. She's just referred to as a Light Fury. [00:06:02] And so we see that relationship unfolding. We see Hiccup and Astrid's relationship unfolding, and then we see some other love interests of some of the other characters. [00:06:12] And it's not to the point of being a romance or anything inappropriate. So, yes, this movie still has an innocent rating, but there's just a lot of depth to a lot of stuff going on and some scenes that seem maybe a little bit intense, but nothing that would. You'd need to shield the eyes of anyone for. But they end up also like, Hiccup ends up learning that there's all these different uses for pieces of dragons and. Okay, I couldn't help but think of the whole Pete's dragon reference and the whole. [00:06:43] All of these uses for dragon parts and what they can cure and things like that. Well, they're kind of somewhat learning that all these different things like dragon scales and dragon saliva and all of this different stuff that they can use for different things. [00:06:57] And so they're making use of that. Well, it's a good thing that they're doing that though, because the future is so uncertain for all of these characters and what's going to happen, it's gonna pull your heart out of your chest in a whole different way. Now, the loss in the previous movie and How to train youn Dragon 2, that one rips your heart out and does not give it back. I mean, you get your heart back in other ways. But that. That loss goes guts you. If you get into these movies like I do that, that loss will gut you absolutely. But what they see here really kind of follows old mariners myths a little bit. This one kind of goes back to a little bit more of the traditional thoughts of Vikings and stuff such as that. And it also gets maybe a little bit. [00:07:47] I wouldn't. I wouldn't say sci fi ish, but I want to say it basically deals with Middle Earth or some sort of Middle Earth. [00:07:57] And because of that, you get to kind of guess and maybe have a little bit of Conjecture of what happens with the humans and the dragons once they find this hidden world. And I mean, that's right there in the title. So don't worry, that's not a. That's not a spoiler of any sort of. [00:08:17] But this one just. It kind of brings the story full circle, but you're almost left wondering if there's going to be more. This one answers a lot of unanswered questions from the first two movies. It's like there's things in this one that reference back to the original movie of things that you were curious about that you didn't even know you were curious about until they brought it up. And then it's like, oh, that's kind of cool. [00:08:44] And okay, you might have to watch this a few times to catch all of those little nuances and things that they're talking about. [00:08:51] But it's just. [00:08:55] There's a line in this one. It's. Perhaps you rely a little bit too much on your dragons and not enough on one another. [00:09:00] And that's really a big point in this movie, is the relationships between the humans and the dragons and how they've grown and how they've matured and what they've learned from each other and how that's going to work moving forward. Now, like I said, if you watch this one, you've got to hang around for. Into the credits because there is a bonus scene that looks even further into the future. Now, are you ready for that? Are you ready for what that's going to do to your heart? [00:09:30] I hope so, because it will. It's going to just leave you with butterflies. It's going to leave you with smiling. It's going to leave you just with the warm and fuzzies. [00:09:39] So, I mean, it seems like it's going to be sad, but it ends on something that's just so uplifting and upbeat that it. [00:09:50] It's just one of those times when you leave a movie and you're just. You're Your mood and your. [00:09:59] Everything you emanate is just contagious. And the people around you will pick up on that. So this is a great one for that. And even if you're having a bad day, this one can uplift you on that, too. [00:10:11] So I hope that you have had fun with these three movies. I know I have. I went back and just recently rewatched all three of these in one day and I just. Just was binging on these and I was like, I knew I needed to have tissues and some of these, and so I was glad I had that handy, but I was so glad to revisit these. And these are ones that if you can sit down and you can just binge, you go, bam, bam, bam. Or even a days, like do these three days in a row or just within a short period of time where you're. [00:10:42] You've still got enough of the first story in your frontal lobe that's just like right there and you're carrying it with you and you're talking about it and then you see the next one, you're like, oh, I love how they did that. Or oh, why did they do that? [00:10:55] I just get so into these and I get so caught up and I look into the depth of and like why they take these characters through certain things and how that affects the development and the maturity and. [00:11:07] And you've still got the dynamics of like, you take all the different people that you have in society and you see that dynamic and not only the human world, but the dragon world as well. [00:11:18] And you may be wondering about how does that work? Well, you're gonna have to experience these and find out. [00:11:24] At least I hope you do. I hope you take the chance and experiencing these to find out. Now I want to talk about the live action one that's coming out in a couple days. [00:11:33] I'm actually getting ready to go up to Montana for a couple of days. And so I'm going to be missing the opening day of this. And no, I did not get the screener on this live action one. So I am not going to be able to see this until after I get back. But after I get back, I will have this review up for you. [00:11:53] So I. I'm looking forward to it as much as you are. And if you knew about it, that's awesome. If you didn't know about it, now you do. [00:12:01] And as always, I will be back soon. Bye. Bye.
