Original Review:

Throughout the Batman saga, we've seen Joker in different stages of mania. What we've never seen is why he is so manic. What pushed him over the edge and what keeps him going? That's what this is, Joker's back story. His life from childhood onward was complicated, to say the least. In his quest to escape his own life, he becomes a clown. Trying his hardest to bring light to others amongst the darkness all around him. When that part of his life falls apart (like everything else), it pushes him over the edge. He now must come to grips with who he is and his legacy. Only there's a secret to his legacy that could explain everything... The deeper he delves into his own beginnings, the darker he becomes. When he is finally given an opportunity to show the world what he is capable of, he does so in such an epic fashion that he cements his role in history. This film is epic in its presentation, but it's definitely not for all audiences. It's a journey through his life, in an almost artistic form. True fans of the DC universe will appreciate the story but come prepared that it's much darker than it initially appears.

[00:00:00] Hello again, and welcome back to another episode of movie Deputy Reviews, where we are going back in time a little bit to 2019. Now, you might be wondering why 2019? Well, because we are going back to talk about the original part of a movie that kind of is. [00:00:23] Well, the newer one just came out, and a lot of people are bugging me to get that review up. But the newer one is the Joker for LA do. And so, of course, you know, the one I'm talking about is, of course, Joker. So hopefully that helps at least a little bit, or I'm hoping so. So with this, I had originally reviewed this movie when it came out in 2019, and to say that I gave this movie a guilty rating is a little bit of an understatement. [00:00:54] This one is guilty, to say the least. Now, back in the day, my whole thing was to keep the reviews in 300 words or less, and of course, no spoilers. And I still hold true to the no spoilers. But with it being a podcast, saying true to the 20 or the 300 words or less is nearly impossible. So like I said, this one did get a guilty rating. So before I tell you the score, I want to share with you the original review that had been up on moviedevity.com. [00:01:26] throughout the Batman saga, we have seen the Joker in different stages of mania. What we've never seen is why is he so manic? What pushed him over the edge and what keeps him going? [00:01:40] That's what this is. Joker's backstory. His life from childhood onward was complicated, to say the least. [00:01:50] In his quest to escape his own life, he becomes a clown, trying his hardest to bring light to others amongst the darkness all around him. When that part of his life falls apart, like everything else, it pushes him over the edge. He must now come to grips with who he is and his legacy. Only there's a secret to his legacy that could explain everything. [00:02:18] The deeper that he delves into his own beginnings, the darker he becomes. When he is finally given an opportunity to show the world what he's capable of, he does so in such an epic fashion that he cements his role in history. [00:02:36] This film is epic in its presentation, but it's definitely not for all audiences. It's a journey through his life in almost an artistic form. [00:02:49] True fans of the DC Universe will appreciate the story, but come prepared that it's much darker than it initially appears. [00:03:00] Now, I think that sums it up quite well score wise. Surprisingly, I came in at a 6.75 out of ten on the deputy scale on this one. This one was, I dare almost use the word brilliant in the way that this was done. You really have to be a DC fan, though, to enjoy this. If you are not a fan of DC Comics or Batman, Joker just kind of that whole thing. You're probably not going to get much out of this as this is literally Joker's descent into madness. And we just get to kind of go along for the ride and watch how and when and why it was done. The way it is on screen makes more sense as the story goes. Now, that being said, like I said, this is not going to be something for everybody. Not, not even in the least. [00:03:56] So, like I said, if you are a fan of Joker, if you are a fan of the Batman series, if you are just a DC Universe fan, you'll get a lot out of this. If not, I'm not sure you're going to walk away with much except just watching somebody struggle with mental illness, because that's, there's not really a more or better way that I can even come up with saying that when this one finishes up, it leaves you hanging. It leaves you kind of wanting to know what. What's coming next, what's going to happen next. Like what? Why am I missing something? And it doesn't really promise that it's going to deliver more, which we now know with Joker Foie Ladue. We were hoping that that was going to be a continuation of the story. So if you want to know what I think of that, you're going to have to come back tomorrow. I'm going to have that one up tomorrow for you. But I hope that this has helped you understand at least the Joker movie a little bit better. If you have not checked it out yet, if you've never seen this one, I will say there are some references in Joker foil adieu, that if you have not seen this one, you're not going to understand some of the references that are made of, but it's not 100% necessary. It's just a couple just inadvertent references that just tie back to this one. [00:05:19] So, like I said, I hope that helps at least a little bit. As always, you know, it's buttons to push and if you want to be the first one to get the reviews, the latest and greatest, they go live on our YouTube two full hours before they go live on any of the podcast channels. So I hope that that helps you at least a little bit. And I will be back tomorrow. Bye.
