Show Notes

A unique spin on an old story, will this leave you wanting more or will this leave you simply wanting... for something you can't quite explain.

Original Review:

A deep story about responsibility, rage, and redemption. Kevin and his wife are at odds with one another over simple responsibilities. Once he arrives at work, that tension is only magnified by an awkward confrontation. As he tries to breathe and refocus on moving forward, something happens that will change everything. An encounter with a stranger... Only this stranger is not exactly a stranger. He introduces himself as Satan but Kevin is a bit more than skeptical. Satan will take Kevin through some steps to prove that he is who he says he is. In doing so, Kevin's choices will leave a lasting impact on those around him. It's only when he makes a decision to change up the game that things really become serious.

What happens next? You'll have to watch this short film and find out for yourself. This film is a preview of a much larger idea. The creators are trying to make this into a feature film that would answer the questions left unanswered.

It's a faith-based film that will certainly have an impact on anyone of faith, if that's not what you're looking for this may not be for you but if you are... This is one you'll want to experience for yourself.

[00:00:00] Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another edition of Movie Deputy Podcast, where today we are doing something a little bit unusual. So I hope you stick around because this is not going to be the only review but we published today. I know we actually did that for the first time a week or so, a little two a couple weeks ago. But this time we're doing something a little bit different because we're going to be basically talking about the same movie. Now, you may be thinking, what in the world is she talking about? Well, it's not just a movie that shares the same title. It's basically the same movie, only we were teased with a short version of it six years ago and the full version is coming out today. So, of course, as you can already imagine, I've seen both versions. I reviewed the first one back in 2017 and I actually reviewed this new one last night. So I am excited to go ahead and bring this to you. And we're actually going to be starting out this morning with the short version of the movie that came out in 2017. And then we are going to be talking about the full version of The Shift, which came out, of course, today, everywhere. They had a December 1 release date and so that's always exciting on that. [00:01:21] And like I said, there's something to this. Now, you may have already figured out what movie I'm talking about, but if you haven't, I'm talking about a movie called The Shift. Now, if you are at all faith based at all, or if you're familiar with Angel Studios at all, you are already going to be familiar with this movie. And if not, stick around. [00:01:44] This story is not one that will appeal to everyone. Some of the subject matter is definitely controversial at times, but there's just something here, something special. [00:01:56] And their whole idea with creating this short film back in 2017 was to kind of create enough interest because they wanted to take this and make this a full length feature film. Well, it took six years to get there, but they did it. And like I said, I will be back later on today. So be sure and turn on your notifications so that you get that notification as soon as the other review goes live. I still have to record that one and I have a few other things I have to do this morning, but I will be getting that other review up this afternoon or possibly this evening, but it will be going live for sure today. [00:02:32] I am just excited to be able to come on here and talk to you about this. Like I said, it's not necessarily the typical movie that you might expect, but it is something and it's something special because it's just done differently. Now. Is it done really well? That's going to be for you to decide, but I want to go ahead and share with you that I actually did give the short version of The Shift a guilty rating on the Moby Deputy scale. Now, you may be wondering why. It's because of some of the subject lines that are addressed in this short little film here, and it's almost not a spoiler, so don't worry. But I'm actually giving the new version of the Shift a guilty version or guilty rating as well. So both of these actually have a guilty rating. If you want to share these with your kids, grandkids, et cetera, I just advise watching it through first, and then that way you know what questions or anything that they might have. And also, the story is really deep and a younger audience is not going to understand it and is not going to necessarily appreciate it the same way. Now, you may be wondering, score wise, now I will tell you the score I did on this one since we're getting ready to talk about this movie. The original short version of The Shift that came out in 2017, I gave a 7.0 on the movie deputy scale. So seven out of ten. And yes, that is a really good score. That's good story. Memorable. Questionable content. Because some of the content for some viewers out there will be, let's just say questionable. And you'll understand a little bit more if you have not seen this. As I read to you and share with you the original review that had been up on Moviedepity.com. [00:04:19] A deep story about responsibility, rage and redemption. But if you are, this is one that you'll want to experience for yourself. [00:05:41] If you're interested in more information, please check out the Shift, check out the website. Check out more information about this movie. [00:05:52] There's so much going on in such a short film and you may be wondering, okay, basically dealing with Satan, it's like, okay, how dark does this go? And honestly, it goes kind of dark. I mean, I'm not going to sugarcoat that. I won't tell you what happens, but it does go kind of dark. [00:06:11] The people that they chose to participate in this were definitely well suited for this. Now, you may be surprised if in the full length version that they did end up creating that some of that's a little bit different and some of the story is even a little bit different than the one that we are presented here. [00:06:31] And so I'm going to be reviewing that and just structuring that up and explaining it to you a little bit differently. As to put it, you know me, no spoilers ever. So I'm having to kind of dance around my words a little bit here so that I don't give too much away. But again, I hope that you have a chance to check this out. If you have never checked this out and you check out the new one, great. Vice versa, that's great. Whatever makes you happy on this. But like I said, if you are a person of faith, this is one that you're going to want to experience. [00:07:03] So definitely, like I said, turn on those notifications because I will be back later. You'll get a notification later today that will have our review of the new Shift movie that came out today. I hope that you enjoyed this and I hope that you'll enjoy that as well. And of course, you know what to do if you don't want to ever miss out on the latest and greatest movie deputy content. I'll talk to you soon. Bye.
