[00:00:00] Hello, and welcome back to Movie Deputy Reviews, where you get the one, the only movie deputy here interrogating movies for plot and content, bringing you everything that you thought you wanted to know and more, of course, with no spoilers ever. I hate spoilers, so I will not do that to you. I actually had a comment on one of my recent YouTube videos and they were like, you spoiled the whole movie. I'm like, wait a minute, what do you mean I spoiled the whole movie? Like, I don't give spoilers. And so I just was like, kind of going back and forth with this person that's like. They were just. They weren't happy basically with my review, and so that was just their comeback. But they couldn't point out any spoilers that I had given. So you gotta kind of appreciate that, at least for the attempt of it. [00:00:50] But the movie we're talking about today is a Pixar movie. Now, I don't know how familiar you are with Disney, Pixar and all that, but they've been shooting a lot of blanks lately. They have not turned out really anything memorable in quite some time. [00:01:09] So when this one was first coming out, I was tempering my expectations and with the screener and everything, I was just like, okay. And then the run time being a little bit different. I went to the theater to see this like everybody else, because I wanted to see what the final version was going to be like. And I was blown away. [00:01:30] Now, if this is going to age me a bit, but I'm going to go back to like ET Flight of the Navigator type feel to this one in a lot of different ways. [00:01:40] And it's about a boy who has lost just about everything. And his new family dynamic has changed. [00:01:51] So his aunt is trying to figure stuff out. He's trying to figure stuff out. She's in the military and she works for, like, basically what SETI is when you're listening to space for any type of alien response of any sorts. [00:02:05] And so Elio is trying to reach out to them as well and basically beam me up. Not done the literal sense, but he wants to be abducted by aliens and he wants them to come take him away. And he wants to go to a world where the loss that he has experienced has not happened. And he wants to start over and he wants to just try to find something to fill the hole in his heart now that this one, this one will grab you at the right in the heartstrings. And it's going to tug and it's going to pull and it's going to be just. [00:02:45] It's going to affect you in a way that you don't expect, and it's going to do so in a way that is not woke. Now, that is the biggest compliment that I can give this movie is there is not. This movie is not woke at all. [00:02:59] And it ties in things for ham radio operators, and it ties in, like, references from, you know, that it was at least inspired from, like, the movie Contact with Jodie Foster. And like I said, it touches on the flight of the navigate some things from Flight of the Navigator and some things from ET and it touches on, like, the Voyager Golden Record. And I don't know if you guys are very familiar with that, but when we. When Voyager was launched, way back in the day, Golden Record was set on Voyager to try to teach any species that we would come in contact with our languages and how to communicate with us. And so this is kind of along those lines. And it's. [00:03:42] It's so much more. And the fact that they can do all this without being woke just. Just really takes it somewhere. [00:03:49] But like I said, it's eyes on the skies and there's no honor without sacrifice or some, like, really important things. And it's just. [00:04:01] There's such. There's a really great quote in here. It says, I may not always understand, but I always love you. [00:04:07] And sometimes that's hard for people to hear because we don't always understand the ones that we love, but we know that we love them just the same. And. And this really can help those more unique people in our life feel like they're not. Feel like they're not alone because they feel like they're alone. And something like this could really make them feel like they're not alone. [00:04:32] There's just so much to the story, and I can't give too much of it away without giving spoilers. [00:04:37] But if you are needing an inspiration in your life and you are needing something uplifting and you want something just wholesome to take your kids to, this absolutely is an innocent rating, 100% safe for all ages. There's nothing. There's nothing at all inappropriate with this. And there's just. [00:05:01] And you'll even get a new game to play with your kids. You can play Rock, Paper, Black Hole instead of Rock, Paper, Scissors and Rock, Paper, Black Hole is going to be a lot more fun. [00:05:10] It's Bring us your leader. And just like I said, it's wholesome entertainment, like what we had back in the day, stuff that it was perfectly safe to watch with Your kids, where you didn't have to worry about trying to watch it with them and trying to monitor what's going on on the screen, having to have conversations with them that you don't want to have to have because of a movie. And like I said, this one does all that and more. And should. Oh, probably. I said should, not the other word. If you were just curious there, but I'm correcting myself. I haven't given you the score on this yet. I am giving Elio a 7.25 out of 10 on the Deputy scale. [00:05:57] I debated about going a little bit higher, but it's like, it's. [00:06:02] I. I really was, like, debating 72575 right in that range. But I'm comparing it with other films such as this. The closest thing I can compare this to for just the wholesomeness of it was Big Hero 6. [00:06:15] And it's just. There's so many just things that feel good about this and it's just. [00:06:21] It's magical. There's not. It's not like Harry Potter type, magical type of movie, but the story itself and the way it makes you feel when it's done, you just. [00:06:32] You want to. You want that feeling to last and you want to find a way to make that feeling last. [00:06:38] And maybe if this helps you connect with somebody close to you who's maybe feeling alone, then maybe that can make that moment last even longer. [00:06:46] Now, if you go see this one, you've got to stick around because there's a bonus scene in the credits that you're going to want to stick around for. And at the end, there's. There's some audio from Carl Sagan that is just. [00:06:58] It's so fitting for this movie. And I'm sitting here just talking about it, getting choked up, except it's just something special. And then if you make it all the way through to the very end of the credits, you're gonna get a sneak peek for a bonus trailer of another Pixar movie that is coming up called Hoppers. Now, you may be wondering what that's about. Well, the name kind of gives it away a little bit, but it's. That's something you're going to want to check out too. So I hope that it's. I can only hope it's half as wholesome as this was, because this, this is. [00:07:35] They need to get back on this track and they need to produce more content such as this because it's so refreshing to have something that just makes you feel good and that's safe to watch. And that's, like I said, magical. That's about the best way I can put it. So if this has helped you, I hope that you hit those buttons. And of course, I hope you come back soon because I will be back with more movies for you. But, yeah, this is one that you don't want to miss. [00:08:05] So I'll be back soon for you guys. Bye. Bye.
