Do you want to play a game? Well, you only get to play if you've been chosen. How are you chosen? That depends on what you have or haven't done.

Original Review:

Secrets, lies, and a psychopath... Basically, that's the movie in a nutshell. That's not the review though. Two men wake up in a bathroom, both are chained to the pipes and neither of them knows how or why they are there. Through communication and working together, they learn that something has to be done for them to escape. This is a game for the one who put them there. The ultimate game, the winner survives... The loser... Well, let's just say it isn't pretty. All of this is a quest to appreciate life. The psychopath is obsessed with puzzles. He leaves clues and it is possible to escape, there's just more to it than it seems. What starts as the twoᅠin the room expands to more as the story is told. Twists and turns will keep you guessing. The idea stays the same but the plot seemingly changes as it's told. A truly original horror/thriller flick. It will keep you guessing and wondering. It's not as scary as it seems and there are some obvious flaws. The flaws don't take away from the story but they are a slight distraction. Who will live? Who will die? The answers will surprise you...

Speaker 0 00:00:00 Well, hello everybody and welcome back. It is once again me your favorite deputy of movie Deputy podcast, bringing you the first of many Thirsty Thursdays. Now, what are you thirsty for? Well, that's what I'm gonna share you for the next th uh, let's see. There's gonna be a total of 10 movies and one of them comes out in September. So we're gonna do nine weeks of the saw movies. So you've gotta be thirsty for some intense suspense. Yeah, try to say that 10 times fast. And then if you are into these stories, you know that there's always a little bit of gore to them as well. So as we are approaching that season where that's kind of the whole part of it, I wanted to bring you these Thirsty Thursdays in order and <laugh>, there's a reason I'm trying to sound a bit more ominous 'cause I know the movies, and maybe you do too. Speaker 0 00:00:54 I'm sure that maybe some of, if not many of you have already seen these. For those that are not into Blood and gore, don't worry, my reviews don't go too far over the edge to where they are. There's where there's too much to them. But I want to definitely be bringing the, the ins and outs of course, with no spoilers of these stories. And let's just say the, there's kind of a typical line that kind of becomes a part of these movies. It's not quite a part of this one yet, but do you want to play a game that's gonna kind of be the fun part with this? No, we're not actually playing a game, but the people in the movie are, will they win or will they lose? I guess we'll have to wait and find out. But before I get into any of that, I wanna share that the first Saul movie that came out in 2004, the one we're talking about today, I did give a 5.75 on the deputy scale. Speaker 0 00:01:48 And also, if you haven't already guessed, it did get a guilty rating. Now, if you were expecting any less, you haven't been listening very long because yeah, these are definitely guilty movies. They are not movies for the faint of heart. Even the TV versions are sometimes a little bit too intense for some people, but the whole versions are definitely too intense for a lot of people. And I personally enjoyed these movies just from just from the intellectual perspective. But these are not intellectual movies at all. But there is just something to these that keeps you coming back for more. And obviously the studios recognize that. That's why as of September 29th, there will be 10 saw movies that have been made. Yes, you've heard me write 10 and at some point we are gonna be talking about all of them. We are gonna be talking about them in order. The only one that's gonna be out of order is gonna be Saw X. And I'm gonna be talking about that on the weekend that it comes out. That is on September 29th. But let me get into the review here of the original saw movie. This is the original review that had been on movie deputy.com, secrets, lies, and a psychopath. Basically that's the movie in Speaker 1 00:02:58 A nutshell. That's not the review though. Two men wake up in a bathroom, both are chained to the pipes and neither of them knows how or why they are there. Through communication and working together, they learn that something has to be done for them to escape. This is a game for tho for the one who put them here. The ultimate game. The winner survives the loser. Well, let's just say it isn't pretty. All of this is a quest to appreciate life. The psychopath is obsessed with puzzles. He leaves clues and it is possible to escape. There's just more to it than it seems. What starts as the two in the room expands to more as the story is told, twists and turns will keep you guessing. The idea stays the same, but the plot seemingly changes as it's told a truly original thriller flick. It will keep you guessing and wondering. Speaker 1 00:03:54 It's not as scary as it seems. And there are some obvious flaws. The flaws don't take away from the story, but they're a slight distraction. Who will live, who will die? The answers will surprise you. Now, as you heard me talking about there, it's like this whole thing is about puzzles. It's about being chosen to play a game. And if you can't play unless you're chosen, but what gets you chosen that you're gonna have to wait and find out? 'cause it's never as simple of an answer as it seems. I hope you have enjoyed the first of our thirsty Thursdays. As I bring these to you, I just, like I said, there's just something about these movies. It's the in, I guess it's more of the intrigue, just the deep thought and the fact that when these originally started coming out, they truly were an original idea on something that really hadn't been done before. As the stories have been told, maybe they get a little tired along the way, but there's always something unexpected. I, for one, am looking forward to bringing you the next one. So tune in next Thursday and you will have the opportunity to catch the next one. Till then, bye-bye.
