[00:00:01] Speaker A: Hello my friends and welcome back to Movie Deputy Reviews, where we are talking about an unusual movie today. Now, this review, I'm, you know me, I'm not going to curse, so I'm going to keep this pg. But I cannot say the same for the trailer or some of the content we are going to be discussing. So if you have littles around, you might want to put your earphones, earbuds type thing in or something like that, or you might want to just pause this and wait till later. This is a review that you're definitely not going to want to miss, but it's not necessarily safest for the little's ears. Now you may be wondering, but what are you talking about? The movie is called Wicker and there is surprisingly quite a few people that have never heard of it. I've mentioned, I've seen it to a few people that are going, what's that? Okay, I eat, sleep and breathe movies. So I mean, there's a lot of movies that I find out about that are not necessarily the biggest kind of attention getters. And the Wicker definitely caught my attention, but not for the reasons you might think. Now, this movie is, I wouldn't say to the point of being obscene, but it is very. It's a very adult theme. It's got very adult language, it's got very adult suggestions. It doesn't necessarily get like, it's not to the point of being like a softcore kind of like some of the other ones we've seen recently or even a lot of. I've talked to some people that didn't know which movie this is and they've compared it to like 50 Shades. I'm like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's nothing like that at all. Now why is that? Well, we're going to get into that a little bit more, you know, spoiler free, so you don't ever have to worry about that with me. But before we get into that, I do want to say, obviously the content. I'm giving Wicker a guilty rating. Absolutely a guilty rating on every level. It's got a guilty rating, but it's not. I wouldn't go far as to call the movie obscene. It's like I said, very adult in nature. But it is done so in a very surprisingly tasteful way. You're probably going, what are you talking about? How in the world. That's, that's what we're going to have to kind of get through here. Now, like I said, I'm warning you a little bit before I even play this trailer. Like I said, just kind of be prepared for that. But let's get into the trailer and I will try to describe things to the best of my ability as we go through that. Oh, okay. That initial sound shouldn't have to explain too much about that one. [00:02:55] Speaker B: Today's catch. [00:02:57] Speaker C: You need a yell. You can smell your cummin. [00:03:00] Speaker B: Lick my worm. [00:03:03] Speaker A: So then, fisherwoman, you caught yourself a lover. [00:03:05] Speaker B: Yet love seems more burden than a prize. [00:03:11] Speaker A: Sorry, where's my mum's? [00:03:13] Speaker D: There's absolutely no shame in living out your remaining days alone. [00:03:18] Speaker A: I'll marry you. [00:03:28] Speaker E: Oh. [00:03:29] Speaker B: I want you to make me a husband. [00:03:32] Speaker E: Be at the chapel in a month. [00:03:35] Speaker B: Good. [00:03:37] Speaker A: Now, that's kind of where we're getting into a little bit of what wicker is about. This fisher lady, she wanders up to the basket maker in the village and she says, make me a husband. Well, everything he makes is made out of wicker, hence the name of the movie. So her husband is going to be brought to life, but not in the way that you might. [00:04:15] Speaker E: I am here to marry you. [00:04:19] Speaker A: What's that? [00:04:21] Speaker B: This is my husband. I heard that. [00:04:25] Speaker A: He's strong as a tree and just as hard. So as you can imagine, the like. Like I was talking about, the adult suggestivity of this story, it's very suggestive in what it is. Hinting. And sometimes it's coming out right out and saying it. But, yeah, I'll let you use your imagination. He's wicca. [00:04:51] Speaker B: Straighten me right out. [00:04:53] Speaker E: You are the reason I live and breathe. [00:04:57] Speaker B: It's not natural. Men are not lying to that. [00:05:00] Speaker C: Fuck off. Fuck off. Yeah, fuck off. You know, you've made quite an impression. The wives, they're all aflutter. [00:05:06] Speaker B: I don't blame them. [00:05:07] Speaker A: I climb that cousin. [00:05:11] Speaker D: You've become quite bold, haven't you, Fisherhun? [00:05:13] Speaker B: He has his days, I have mine. And we have our knights. Is someone being murdered? [00:05:28] Speaker A: Let's dig in. [00:05:34] Speaker E: I'll be fixing the bed this afternoon. It broke again. [00:05:43] Speaker B: You've got some sort of scheme going with the natural world here. [00:05:46] Speaker E: Mother Nature provides. I merely augment. [00:05:52] Speaker A: As you can tell by the tone of this movie, this is definitely a chick flick, obviously. I mean, by far it is. But it has done very well, surprisingly, with as almost, I'm gonna say, borderline vulgar. It is at times that is still done very tastefully in a certain way. Now, I have had movies that I haven't been such a big fan of. Other ones that I've loved, other ones that are more dude flicks, other ones that are More chick flicks in the score range where I ended up with this one. And don't worry, I'm not giving it away quite yet. But when she has this desire to have the Basket Maker bring her, make her a husband and bring him to life, basically what he becomes, becomes the envy of the entire village. He is the husband that all of them would just dream to have but can't. But he is not without his downfalls as well. But there are. There are certain things to what is happening that are much deeper than the very suggestive part of the story. There's actually a lot of heart to this story. There is a lot of. Just in this village. I mean, this is set probably back in the 1700s, 1600s is showing like way back when. And it's just very. How do I want to put this very bold in its presentation, how the women were treated by the men. It was basically just back then, I mean, women didn't have a lot of say so in a lot of things. And this is very much true here. And it hints at a little bit in the trailer, but it gets even more into detail in the story. But when the Basket Maker was making this wicker husband, something that he did, made an entirely different kind of man. And I'm not talking just because he's made out of wicker. I'm talking there is something special to him because of the way that this is done. Like I said, this very, very adult throughout the movie. It's through the language. So through the suggestive nature of the story, through the very. The hinting and sounds of adult scenes that are happening, it is. It's definitely not for everybody. It definitely is not for everybody. And I probably shouldn't even have to put this disclaimer on there. But as I was leaving the movie, it was a lot of women in there, some guys in there. And the guys were just like, wow. Probably because they saw not only a very heavy chick flick movie, but they also saw how a woman should be treated. And that affects guys masculinity a whole lot. But if you are wanting something that both touches your heart and maybe touches you in other places too, I'll kind of leave that up to you. Then this is going to be one that you're not going to want to miss. But the thing that I thought I'm talking about, that I shouldn't even have to give this disclaimer. As some of these women were leaving the theater, when I was in there watching this, they were wondering, it's like, I wonder if they have anything wicker shaped like that at Michael's. Please do not use wicker. There are plenty of stores that have things that are perfectly safe to use. I'm not going to go into any more detail on that. You can use your imagination, but you know what I'm talking about. But women that actually contemplated using Wicker basket type material, my first thought was, ow. My second thought was it'd be impossible to clean. I'm literally just kind of giving that scowl look just like, ew. And it just. Yeah, it's like I said, I shouldn't even have to disclose something like that. But hearing people talk about, I don't know if they were joking, if they were serious. Just be careful what you say when you're leaving the movies. You never know whose ears are going to overhear it. Because these ladies had no idea who I was. And I'm sitting there and I'm taking my notes and they mentioned that I'm just like, well, I guess love hurts. But that, that's a whole different category now for Wicker. You're probably wondering where I came in on the score on this one. Now, I hope you can catch your breath from laughing so hard, what we're just discussing there. But I'm going to kind of surprise you on Wicker. I am coming in with wicker at a 7.25 out of 10 on the deputy scale. Like I said, it is not just this raw adult movie. There is something so tender to the story, there is something so tender to the way it's presented, and there is a beauty behind it, but you kind of have to almost look around the edges a little bit to find it. But if you're really paying attention to the details, it really makes a difference. So would I recommend Wicker only for consenting audiences, but I think if you do, if, if you are. If you've ever read a Harlequin novel, you're going to enjoy Joy Wicker. If you've ever read in a more adult entertainment type novel, you're going to enjoy Wicker. If you enjoyed other more adult ish movies that have been in the theater in the last decade or so, you will enjoy Wicker. I can't say that for everybody, but I can say that for at least the people that that applies to. So will this be one that you'll check out or will you wait for it at home? Honestly, Even with a 7.25, I would recommend waiting and watching this in the privacy of your own home. I'll let you use your imagination on that one. But as always, I hope that you are having as much fun with these reviews as I am as I interrogate these movies for their plot and their content. The plot is pretty simple here. The content trying to at least give you as much of a heads up as possible on this one. Obviously this is meant for a completely adult audience, but like I said, as always, I really hope you're enjoying this as much as me. So if you are hit, like hit subscribe, turn on that little notification bell to get the latest and the greatest Movie Deputy content. And don't worry, we've still got some more. I've still got to announce the surprises that we've got coming up soon. You're not going to want to miss a moment and I'll talk to you soon. Bye.
