[00:00:00] You know, sometimes at the end of the day, all you can just say is, wow. That's what I'm gonna say about the movie that we are talking about today. Hello and welcome back. It is once again me your favorite Deputy of Movie Deputy podcasts, previouslyofmoviedepity.com bringing you the latest and greatest movie reviews. Now this one came out just a little while ago, but it didn't spend much, much time in the theaters at all. And now I don't remember if it's on Hulu or Netflix. But if you've got one of those, I'm sure you can find this fairly easily. I think it's on Hulu though. The movie that we're talking about today is called Slaughterhouse.
[00:00:41] If you've ever seen a three toed sloth, you'd know how cute and cuddly they are. If you've ever seen like Disney Zootopia, you know, Flash is just this super slow that you just kind of fall in love with.
[00:01:03] It's just silly. It's corny. It's just plain goofy.
[00:01:09] Now I will say that I definitely gave this movie a guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty rating on the deputy scale. And you may think, okay, it's about sloths. How bad could it be? Well, it's not about sloths in the typical sense. It's about a sloth. Now in the opening scene of this movie, if you are sensitive to anything happening with animals, this is one that you're going to want to avoid.
[00:01:41] Run fast in the other direction because the very opening scene in this movie is you see an alligator jumping out of the water and basically grabbing a sloth. Now you notice I don't say killing the sloth. And don't worry, this is not a spoiler. It's just the opening scene of the movie. But all of a sudden you see a bunch of blood in the water and naturally you're going to assume that it's going to be the sloth's blood because it's an alligator or crocodile, I don't know which, but it's one of those big creatures coming out of the river and it grabs a sloth and you see all this blood. Well then you quickly realize it wasn't the sloth that died. And you're thinking, okay, what is up with this sloth? But a poacher grabs this sloth and brings it back to the US. To sell. And just through a series of events, a young sorority gal just ends up coming across him and comes across this sloth and falls in love with it. It's like, oh, I've got to bring it back to be the mascot for our sorority. Bunch of sorority girls. College. It's rush week. For those that don't know, rush week is like the week when a bunch of new girls join a sorority. Was I ever a part of a sorority? No, not even close. But my sister was. I think she was trying to remember back on that. But it's not for everybody.
[00:03:05] Some of them can be serious. Some can be good. Some can just be over the top. And this one kind of goes definitely over the top. Now maybe wondering what I gave it on the deputy scale, you're going to have to wait till we get towards the end for me to tell you the score. But like I said, I warned you. It's guilty. But ultimately the sloth is just being all cute and cuddly. And then the one that he befriends the one that adopts him, brings him home, she's just like, oh. And so everybody just kind of falls in love with and this girl is emily is what is her name? And so the sloth quickly becomes very protective of Emily. And one by one, the sorority girls start disappearing in not so innocent ways you can imagine. And it's just a gory story that just it plays out weird. Now, though, like I said, I'm going to make you wait till the end to give you my score. I will say that there's a bonus scene in the credits if you could make it all the way through. Mind you, these types of horror type movies, they're going to have their audience. There are going to be people out there that this is their favorite movie ever. And there's going to be other people that get five minutes into this thing and go, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Am I watching those that don't know it's like even after Monday and Tuesday, your calendar says WTF. So that's hence why I'm using that.
[00:04:42] But ultimately, like I said, this is not going to be the movie that you expect unless you're just coming in expecting a gory, over the top, just goofy horror story and how it plays out, how it ends, won't be how you expect.
[00:05:01] I mean, it's a sloth. I mean, come on.
[00:05:06] There's definitely a few twists along the way. Like I said, this will have its audience. This is going to have a very limited audience, though. And whether or not that's a good thing or a bad thing, I guess, is up to you. I hope that I have helped a little bit in that and informing you on what to maybe expect, what to not expect. But it's a sorority girl movie. It's Sorority Gone Wild, both with the girls and the sloth and just kind of how everything plays out. Just makes you wonder what they were thinking or smoking or I mean, California is legalized. I mean, come on. They were bound to make small stories like this. Is this alone? No, but there's just let's just say that there are a couple hashtags that have gone popular because of this movie. One is Rush Sloth and the other one is Killer Sloth. Now if you've ever seen the poster to this movie, neither of those is a spoiler. But now I'm finally getting around to the score. But before I get around to this, I want you to be sure and like and share this either to help your friends see a goofy freaking movie or to warn them to run fast in the other direction. Now, finally to the score. Now, usually if I make you wait this long, it's usually for a reason. And honestly, yeah, this one fits. This one is one of those ones that if you must see this, wait till it comes out of DVD Blu ray. Instant Video will relux on your favorite a night because it's out on Instant Video, so that solves that problem. But its score is just a 3.0 out of ten on the deputy scale.
[00:06:56] And I debated about going lower than that just because just the content of this one is just so.
[00:07:10] But the next step lower would be painful, confusing, and this one is neither painful nor confusing. Okay, it's going to be painful for some, but not for everybody. I did make it all the way through this one. I kept hoping it was going to get somewhat better. And the last little part that gets maybe a little bit better, it goes full woke. So I do want to warn people of that. But like I said, it only got a 3.0 out of ten on the deputy scale. So I hope that that will either help you or dissuade you from watching this.
